Nanded, Maharashtra • Official Digital Portal
Located 10 km southwest of Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazoor Abchal Nagar Sahib, Nanded — sanctified by Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Gurudwara Nanak Sar Sahib is located 10 km to the south west of Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazoor Abchal Nagar Sahib, Nanded. Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji stopped over here en-route to Bidar. There is a sacred Ber tree where Guru Ji sat in devotion for nine days and nine hours.
One day companion Bhai Mardana Ji requested water. Guru Ji ordered him to play the Rabab and sing the "Dhun of Kartar". As Bhai Mardana Ji played, a spring of cool and sweet water miraculously appeared. Guru Ji revealed: "This pious land belongs to God, that's why the water is so cool and sweet."
Guru Sahib healed a suffering devotee under the spring and blessed it to be a holy Sarovar. Guru Ji revealed that whosoever bathes in this sarovar with faith and devotion shall be fulfilled. Digging of the holy sarovar was initiated by Sher-E-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji, and ongoing renovation is led by Sant Baba Narinder Singh Ji & Sant Baba Balwinder Singh Ji.
In Sept 1708, Bairagi Sadhu Madho Dass was baptized to Sikhism here by Guru Gobind Singh Ji and given the name Banda Singh Bahadur. Disciple Bhai Santokh Singh Ji was guided to stay here and establish "Guru Ka Langar" for all visiting devotees.
As Administrative of the Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Gurdwara Board, Nanded, it is my humble privilege to invoke the blessings of the Ten Gurus and apprise the Sadh Sangat the world over as to what plans are afoot to fittingly commemorate the 300th anniversary of the consecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib (Gur Ta Gaddi) and the Parlokgaman (heavenly journey) of Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Nanded. I am more than conscious of the fact that without their blessings and your cooperation, such a mighty task can never be accomplished.
In view of the great religious and national significance of this event we are expecting millions of Sikh pilgrims and other visitors to visit Nanded two years hence. Therefore, extensive plans are underway for the redevelopment and beautification of the Gurdwara complex and its surroundings.
The entire complex is being so redesigned as to accommodate at one time at least 25,000 devotees in the Parikrama (corridor) or inner circle of the Gurdwara itself. Besides, many other equally important projects are in hand to evoke the visitors' interest in Nanded and Sikhism.
